The jokes are different too when they aren't followed by idle threats, James thinks to himself. He slips in a chair at the table. As she continues cooking, he uses the edge of his shirt to wipe the dirt and cobwebs from the handle. The blade itself could've used a good sharpening, but in a struggle, it would do. Considering they had faced off against a giant spider two days with nothing at all, James would take it.

"Might as well have," he says, shrugging. "The thing I don't get. There's an entire damn maze or whatever down here. Somewhere in town. How did no one know it existed?"
