James doesn't give Daniel's continued accusations any other response. William has already made his feelings about Davin perfectly clear, and that's without even knowing his boyfriend is a witch. Whether William approves of Davin or not isn't James' concern, and he's made his feelings about it to his father perfectly clear. James isn't going to let William dictate his life or any of their lives. He does believe Daniel is in too deep with Amelie and by circumstance her family, but he isn't telling his brother to leave her. It's possible it is because if he tells Daniel to end things with Amelie, he'd be obligated to do the same with Davin, and he doesn't want to do that. Witch or not, he likes Davin, and he wants to be with him. There's a small fear inside of him that isn't sure how long all of these differing opinions will work, but until then, he's happy.

"How exactly do we do that, Daniel? If Father makes a move on this, we either look like we are with him or against him. He goes after their property and what? You're going to be photographed grabbing coffee with her at Quill?" Demetri asks, shaking his head. "I know Father is an asshole, but he knows the family's best asset is its reputation. We can't show people we're all fighting amongst ourselves, can we?"
