Davin lifts his bloody hands away from James' chest to see that the wound is almost fully closed, but James himself is still pale and unnaturally still. Davin holds his breath, heart suspended somewhere in his belly, and waits.

Finally James opens his eyes and Davin lets out a relieved gasp, laughing in pure jubilation when James says his name. "Aye, ya gave me a scare. Welcome back."

He pulls another vial out of the bag and uncorks it, cradling the back of James' neck with one hand while bringing the bottle to his lips. "Here babe, drink this. Make sure everything's healed from the inside out."
