Even though Davin appears into the idea of camping outdoors and sleeping on the ground, as he'd put it, James still rents a cabin to be safe. Camping trips are something he and his siblings did to have an excuse to escape their house when they were younger, so he's fairly experienced with the concept. Plus, if he had to admit it, he's something of an outdoor hobbyist. There's a reason he'd built his home in the middle of the woods. Not only to piss of his dad, but he liked the seclusion and the quiet of the woods. 

He packs up his car with most of the gear they would need. Backpacks and tents and utensils and cooking supplies. After a trip to the store, there's more than enough food to last them days. Then they are on their way out of Siren Cove, away from all the chaos, and away from work since he'd promise not to check his email for the entirety of their trip which will prove harder than being without his ultra-comfy bed any day of the week. 

Their cabin is close enough to a lake that they can take out a boat one day, but deep enough into the woods that their camping adventure should be more than adequate. They arrive at the cabin in just under two hours. After putting the car in park, he climbs out and heads to check-in at the main lodge while Davin stretches his legs. 

Returning with a pair of keys he tosses one to Davin. "Here we are," he says with a smile.

"There's still some daylight left," Davin says with a laugh. He reaches out and rests his hand on James' stomach, sliding it up and biting his lip as his expression goes a bit more serious, almost nervous. "Can I ask ya somethin'?"

It's something he's been thinking about but a little too nervous to ask, and he decides that there's no time like the present. James is concerned for a brief second when Davin's face suddenly goes serious and he proposes a question because maybe it's just paranoia after all the bad that's happened lately but he braces for something completely different than what Davin actually says. "Oh," he says once Davin's finished talking, sighing a little with a chuckle since he doesn't know why he thought it was bad in the first place. This is suppose to be a happy weekend after all.

Though now he's worried just how long Davin's been wanting to ask him that, judging the nervous expression and the blush on his cheeks, maybe a while. He's not even opposed to the idea. It's not exactly something he's done often, but he's also never been in a relationship like the one he's in the with Davin. He trusts him more than past partners.

He nods putting his hand on Davin's neck, resting his thumb along his cheek. "We can do that," he tells him. "I'm sorry we never talked about it before now. It isn't always something I've done, but with you I would like it if we try---" He means that, happy that it does seem like a perfect time.

"...but that means you actually have to help me put all this stuff away," he says with a smile.

He sees James tense up and immediately feels bad for making him worry, but then he lets out a breath and grins when James tells him that he'd like to try. A soft laugh escapes him and he smiles fondly, nuzzling into James' hand. He leans in for a kiss, but then the rest of what he says registers.

"Oh, you tease," he says with a laugh. He grins and kisses him anyway, long and deep enough that he almost gets too distracted to pull away. After awhile he finally does, lips red and plump as he grins down at him. "Okay, I'll help ya. I'm picturin' it happenin' at night anyway, with the fire goin'. Maybe some melted chocolate, jus' like the first time. How's that sound?"

"It's sounds perfect," James says, letting his hands rub up and down Davin's arms with a fond smile. Their first night together had been amazing too, and he's certain tonight won't fall far behind that one, considering how it's starting off so far. They kiss for a few moments longer until James rolls to his side so he can crawl back to the front of the tent, holding it open for Davin to get through.

"I just want you to have the full camping experience," he tells him.

Davin lets out an exaggerated sigh and crawls out of the tent, looking around at all their supplies and then grinning up and James. "As long as that experience includes me bangin' my insanely hot boyfriend in a tent, I'm good."

He laughs and leans up for another kiss, and then steps over to a flat spot of scorched earth, leaning down to brush the dried leaves and debris away from it. "Okay, Ranger James. What's next? We make fire?"

James leans into the kiss when Davin steps up him, their mouths lingering for a few seconds until Davin pulls away. He smiles as they both head back into the camp site. "Yeah. We should," he says going over to where they had left all their supplies. They still have time before it gets too dark.

"We can go find some wood? Check out the scenery maybe?" he suggests finding a bottle of water to take with them.

"I've got some wood for ya t'find," Davin says, because he can't not make the obvious joke. He cracks up and rolls his eyes at himself, and then grabs a bag of trail mix and nods. "Alright. I mean, ya wantin' t'take a nature hike instead of havin' sex with me is sort o' a blow t'the ego, but I'll live."

"I wouldn't say all that," James says gathering his bag and joining Davin with a smile. "I just know we have all weekend to do whatever we'd like." Considering he is the one usually working long hours, it makes sense to just enjoy as much time as possible together, and they had come all this way to camp. He laughs when Davin swipes at him, shaking his head. "At least you're in a good mood," he says as find their way out of the camp site and over to the trail nearby. "I told Daniel we were coming up here and he just laughed. Should we have picked some place fancier?"

"O' course I am," Davin says with a smile, walking alongside him and reaching out to take his hand, threading their fingers together. He tilts his head at the comment about Daniel and then squeezes James' hand. "Nah, I think this is romantic. I'm glad ya wanted t'share this with me. I always sorta felt like I was missin' out since I never got t'do anythin' like this, y'know? But now I am, an' it's with you. So I'm very happy."

He leans over and gets up on his tiptoes to kiss James on the cheek, and then swings their joined hands as they walk. "This is way better than some fancy restaurant, babe."

James smiles when Davin leans over to take his hand, and they continue down the trail together, hand-in-hand. He grew up lucky enough to experience more things than most other people ever do. Living with his father wasn't always the easiest thing, but his siblings and him had the means to find ways to escape. At least in this case he's happy to show Davin the ropes.

"I guess it's good you're not too particular," he says with a laugh. It's nice that Davin it's too hung up on all the fancy stuff. He doesn't mind it, and maybe one day that could do something like thing---a luxurious vacation or something. He imagines maybe Davin hasn't done much of that either. But in James mind it's nicer to be alone this way too. "I've never taken a trip like this with someone I'm seeing. So it's nice it's with you."

They're heading uphill, which isn't a problem for Davin. He's incredibly fit and he does love the outdoors, and hiking. He's just never done much of it outside of Siren Cove, and he's never spent the night outside. He hops up onto a rock and grabs the trunk of a narrow tree all without letting go of James' hand, and tugs him up to follow.

James lets Davin pull him up onto the rock and smiles, shaking his head. "I think what may be romantic is your expectation of Maine scenery. I don't think we'll find any vistas, but we may find a moose and a good number of trees?" Though it is still beautiful out here. The leaves haven't started to turn quiet yet, but it's quiet with clear skies. It's easy to appreciate considering soon they will be inundated with several feet of snow and ice. It just isn't maybe what some people may think of as exciting.

"I can still whisper sweet nothings to you though. If you'd like," he says staying close enough since they are holding hands. "If we follow this trail this a lake at the end of it."

"Oh, I dunno. I think I've got a pretty good view wherever we go," Davin tells him, giving James a sweet smile and looking over at him fondly. They walk along the trail and Davin nods, intrigued by the idea of finding the lake. It really is beautiful out here, and he takes in a deep breath of fresh air as their entwined hands swing loosely between them.

"I will take ya up on those sweet nothings, though," he says happily. It takes them a bit, but they make it to the lake and Davin freezes when he sees a doe and her fawn lapping at the lake's edge. Davin grins and looks over at James excitedly, bouncing on his heels before looking back to watch the deer with wide, bright eyes.

They find their way too the lake after several minutes of hiking, but it's a companionable journey and James is enjoying himself out here. He enjoys spending time outdoors; it's peaceful and simple compared to most of his time spent at his family over-the-top estate. They watch the deer for awhile, but the doe eventually spots them and takes off, with the fawn trotting along behind. He stands up straight at that and leans against James' side, wrapping his arms around his waist and pushing him gently over towards a soft looking patch of grass near the edge of the lake. "I think you would need to fight the bear for me," James tells him with a soft chuckle. "What if I tell you I'm so glad I've gotten to know you and I think you really great. I hope in another few months we're talking about being together for a year."

The sky is just starting to turn pink at the horizon, and Davin knows that soon they'll be under a glorious sunset. He feels so blessed in this moment, and he grins at James' lips. "Unless ya want t'get naked with me right here in the grass."
